Marion, N.C. â A tractor trailer hauling two NASCAR race cars to Kansas was involved in a crash Wednesday in western North Carolina.
According to the Charlotte Observer, the truck ran off Interstate 40 through a guardrail and ended up in an embankment. The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the truck flipped over.
Two drivers were injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital. On Thursday, the drivers had been released from the hospital and were recovering at home, according to an update on social media from Kaulig Racing.
“Thank you to all for your comments, prayers and concern,” the post read.
Auto Week reported that one driver had a medical emergency. At least one car was damaged in the crash.
According to team president Chris Rice, the team still plans to field two cars in Saturdayâs race.
