Indianapolis Motor Speedway this year will host a new road-course race for NASCAR drivers as part of a five-day schedule of events leading up to the Brickyard 400 on July 5.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series—the second tier in professional stock-car racing—will run the race Saturday, July 4, on a road course that uses part of the historic speedway oval.

The race is one of several additions to programming ahead of that Sunday’s Brickyard 400, which is in a new scheduling slot this year after back-to-back years of running on the weekend after Labor Day.

Brickyard 400 co-sponsor Florida Georgia Line is scheduled to play a concert as part of the race festivities for the second year in a row. Events also include a fireworks show and a new infield camping experience

The BC39, a United States Auto Club dirt-track race, is returning for its third running on July 1-2.

The FGL concert is scheduled for Saturday inside Turn 4, with a “star-studded lineup” that will be announced in the coming weeks, IMS officials said. Tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.

The fireworks display is set for Saturday night.

The Brickyard 400 took place in late July or early August over its first 24 years but was moved to early September in 2018. The first Brickyard 400 race drew 275,000 fans in 1994 but crowds had dwindled to an estimated 35,000 by 2017. Last year’s 26th running drew more than 60,000.

The GMR Grand Prix, an IndyCar race that runs in May, uses a 14-turn, 2.439-mile road course at IMS.
