NASCAR DFS: Brickyard 400 Track Breakdown –

We’ve arrived to the end of the regular season in the Cup series. For those uninitiated, there are playoffs in NASCAR and they start next weekend, with the top-16 drivers in the point standings making it and then progressing for the final 10 weeks of the season. So aside from it being the cutoff race in the Cup series, it’s also a Crown Jewel race in the Brickyard 400, despite the gaudy sponsorship title for the race. This race, along with the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, and Southern 500 make up the Crown Jewels and so there is added pressure on the teams to perform and win this race at perhaps the most famous track in the world.

Talking about the race specifically, Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a 2.5-mile flat rectangular oval and thus there are 160 laps that make up the scheduled 400-mile distance for the event.
