LEXINGTON — For the seventh time, the NASCAR XFINITY Series stops at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the B&L Transport 170 on Aug. 9 and 10. The future stars of NASCAR will battle fender-to-fender on track.
This is the second of four road courses on the NASCAR XFINITY season schedule. Additional race weekend features include the legendary Trans Am presented by Pirelli and the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda adding some open-wheel racing to the weekend schedule.
The high-flying action from Robby Gordonâs Stadium SUPER Trucks, taking on the asphalt, jumps and air, returns to Mid-Ohio for the second time this season. Eight races in total will take the green flag during the weekend.
The NASCAR XFINITY Series is a stock car racing championship organized by NASCAR. It is promoted as NASCAR’s “minor league” circuit, and is considered a proving ground for drivers who wish to step up to the organization’s top level circuit, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
XFINITY Series events are frequently held as a support race on the day prior to a Cup Series event scheduled for that weekend, but stand-alone weekends are also promoted like the one at Mid-Ohio as the featured event.
The cars have to be a minimum weight of 3,400 lbs. including the driver and are steel tube frame with safety cage, 5800 cc pushrod V8 engines with carburetion using 98 octane Sunoco unleaded gasoline and producing 650-700 hp, 4-speed manual transmission, fitted with slick or rain Goodyear tires depending on the conditions. Trans Am presented by Pirelli began igniting the passion of motorsports fans across the world in 1966 and has been home to some of the greatest names in road racing. Today, Trans Am continues to honor its legacy, while challenging the status quo in racing, through meaningful racing platforms and a driver-oriented focus. The four class designations follow:
TA- With over 800 horsepower, the sights and sounds of the TA class resonate with much of the history of the pinnacle classes of North American motorsports, where power easily exceeded mechanical grip and aerodynamic downforce. These aggressive machines have a legacy that is decades in the making.
With their remarkable speed, incredible sound, and the visceral challenges of pure racing thanks to electronic driver aids being banned, the fans love the cars of the TA class as much as its drivers do.
TA2- The TA2 class presented by AEM brings back the “Muscle Car Wars” of the 60’s and 70’s, when revered brands like the Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford released hot rod versions of their Camaro, Challenger and Mustang to try to prove who made the best performance cars on the American roads. The competition is incredibly close thanks to rules that keep an equal eye on the bottom line as well as the finish line.
SGT- The SuperGT class is the playground for an incredible range of production based machines. From the high-revving sports cars from Europe, like those from BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini, to the ground pounding American performance cars with large-displacement engines like the Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, and Vipers.
The SuperGT class is this highest performance option of Trans Am’s GT classes, with a wide scope of freedom for innovation built into the rules.
GT- Harking back to the very start of Trans Am, when production street cars were modified just enough to go racing, the GT class machines are “limited-preparation” with the vast majority of parts being utilized coming straight off the showroom floor.
Whether competing with a factory-built race car purchased on the second-hand market, or building a race car from one of the common performance models on the street, the GT Class makes racing more affordable while maintaining the thrill of competition

Commencing in 2016, SCCA Pro Racing created the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda as a means to modernize entry-level open-wheel racing for participants starting at age 15, around a contemporary, cost conscious formula. The SCCA chose partners that embrace these ideals and can support this vision with appropriate technology and products. The selected F4 powerplant is based on the engine currently used in the Honda CivicÂź Type R launched in Europe and recently available to customers in the U.S., detuned to meet FIA-mandated output of approximately 160 Hp.
The engine and the ECU are sealed to help with parity and compliance. The Ligier JS F4 chassis is a modern, robust, and highly capable chassis that is conducive to exceptional performance at various engine power levels. Both the engine and chassis meet FIA homologation requirements. A new tire package for the series was introduced this season. Robby Gordonâs Stadium SUPER Trucks return to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course after making its debut appearance during the Honda Indy 200 weekend. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course offers an exceptional family value. Children 12 and under are admitted FREE all weekend when accompanied by a ticketed adult, plus free parking is available.
