They say that any press is good press though NASCAR Xfinity series driver Dillon Bassett might disagree. The driver with DGM Racing was making just his third start in the Xfinity Series Saturday at Iowa Speedway.
Bassett started 17th and was looking for at least a decent finish in the U.S. Cellular 250. But with 27 laps to go Bassett was heading towards the pits under caution for a spin involving Michael Annett. Bassett was among a group of cars trying to get to the pits, and while the others made it, Bassett, his vison perhaps obscured by clouds of speedy dry being stirred up, hit one of the track sweepers cleaning up the mess.
His day was done. Neither Bassett nor the sweeper driver were hurt. Bassett was scored 26th, the sweeper was able to finish the cleanup.
